Post by BIT0216-Habib on Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:06 am

Recently I have started working on J2ME for my Software project Lab-I. But i can't set up environment to run any program for both eclipse and netbeans. As far i know some additional tools should be installed, but which should be i don't know.
I searched it over net. but unfortunately i got some confusing matter.

Please anyone help me so that i can start working on J2ME.

Well, our BIT0119-Asif gave me word that he will write a tutorial on J2me in Eclipse.

That was about one and a half month ago.

...

Mind blowing.

Well, I went through the link and looked it very carefully. It was a complicated way i got(previously i went through the link). But i got an idea from that.
Anyway, After a long search i got a way to run a simple J2ME program. I don't know weather its a good way or not. but the main thing is that i compiled and run a program. Here's the way i tried and succeed:

Step 1: you will need a wireless toolkit like "java wireless toolkit for CLDC". just download it and install.
Step 2: Run the program. create new project and give project name and MIDlet class name. Click OK.(J2ME class called MIDlet Class)
Step 3: You will have another window and set Target platform Custom and MIDP 2.0. Click OK.
Step 4: you will have a path of java source file........\Documents and Settings\Admin\j2mewtk\apps\your project Name\src. Place your .java file there and save it.
Step 5: Back to the main interface and Click run button. you will have your output there with a mobile interface. If you have any error you will get error warning from the interface.

Though i'm looking for better way but i think its helpful.

Anyway i learned this from a video tutorial. Its not possible now for me to upload that due to my slow internet connection. I will try to upload it within few days.

Hmm.. is that video tutorial available in youtube? And I think it will be better if a separate topic is made on this issue Smile

yeah, it is possible. But instead of splitting it, you better copy and paste it in a new topic along with details like videos or screenshots. Then, share the link of your new topic in this topic. That way, people will have more options to find this Very Happy

For youtube videos, you do not have to upload them. You simply provide the links using the video tag.
For details, check this link

And look for "Add a movie to a message"

Very Happy
